Tzedakah lishma, so to speak

United States taxpayers will probably face a new reality as of next tax season:  Our deductions for charitable donations will disappear.  So any payments to tzedakah will have to be lishma ( for their own sake), just because it's the right thing to do.  Let's keep up the good work, which will, if anything, be more and more necessary as the tax cuts for the wealthy bleed the rest of us dry.

A very good point. Also, if it makes sense you could step up your charitable contributions in the remainder of the year to take advantage of the old rules. I'm doing that - my income is significantly higher this year than next so I get more benefit from the deduction this year anyway.

Larry, I think we'll be busy on various charity websites between now and next Sunday night.
